"You never stop learning in the wonderful world of horses."

From Owner/Instructor, Rebekah:

I've Earned over 30 years as a horsewoman, 25 of those years as a trainer and instructor. I say "earned" because the Art of Horseback Riding and Horsemanship is never learned quickly. Horses have an intellect that is complex and we as humans are lucky to be able to learn, understand and connect with them though, we must first earn their trust. I do not just teach riding, I teach and guide each student to learn and earn the horses trust and respect. I also teach how to care for the horse as far as grooming, treating wounds, sicknesses, along with general health and upkeep.

I teach on excellent safe, sane and sound horses for all levels and disciplines.  I personally compete in several disciplines on the upper level. Here at Willow Glen Farm, my instruction method is to instill basic dressage and balance seat as a foundation and develop riders in Saddleseat, Hunt Seat, Western and lower to mid-level Hunters.

My experience and background are extensive as I have training, apprenticeships, and teaching from some of the top trainers on the East Coast. My personal training still continues, whereas I take occasional lessons and seek input and guidance from my own trainer.

I love teaching, especially from the very beginning. I have an abundance of knowledge and a legacy I am carrying on. It touches my soul to watch my riders develop and succeed in this wonderful sport.

I take my time and evaluate each riders current experience, or if brand new to riding I introduce them by example. I will have another student ride as I explain from the ground the basic commands and cues. I will then show and assist the new rider while they are on the horse or pony and go over it all again. I always begin with a neck strap  or grab strap on the saddle, and I put the horse on a lunge line in a smaller, enclosed round pen.

As the rider progresses, I will teach more advanced skills. I do not have a fixed plan because each rider learns and comprehends differently. While the foundation is the same, I will adjust how I teach to where each rider can understand. My goal is to keep riders confident, safe and help them reach their individual goals.
